Founded by Steve Melzer, and later acquired by Daren Sherwood in June 2019, HMI has consistently maintained a strong market position by thinking “outside the box.” Our ability to introduce innovative products, create dynamic merchandising programs, and rejuvenate existing product lines has defined our success. Our dedicated national sales force and knowledgeable customer service associates work tirelessly to ensure Hardware Mercantile International, LLC remains the supplier of choice and a trusted partner in the industry.

Our mission is to provide the headwear that working people need and want, with a unique focus on under brim hats. Supported by a team of five internal members and a vast network of outside sales personnel, we continue to innovate and meet the demands of our valued customers.

Daren Sherwood, the owner of Hardware Mercantile International, LLC, brings over 31 years of industry experience to the company. With a passion for fishing and surfing, Daren’s journey into the business began alongside Steve Melzer. His desire to become self-employed and his keen eye for opportunity led him to acquire the company in 2019.

Daren’s extensive experience and personal interests have shaped his approach to business, emphasizing innovation and customer satisfaction. His leadership and dedication continue to propel Hardware Mercantile International, LLC towards new heights, ensuring the company remains a trusted name in the industry.
